Whether You're Trick or Treating or Just Handing It Out, You Know You Want Some!

If you want to know what the top 10 candy bars for Halloween are, you've come to the right place!

Ah, Halloween, that one time of year when kids are allowed to get FREE CANDY from everyone they know and consume amounts of sugar that should probably be made illegal. But who are we kidding? Adults are just as likely to indulge, whether by sneaking candy from the Trick or Treat bowl, by "checking" their kids candy and taking out the pieces that "look funny," or by swiping a few candy bars after they go to bed.

We know that there is more candy in the Trick or Treat universe than candy bars, but as chocophiles ourselves, we're most interested in the chocolate versions. Besides, how many times have you or your kids come home with a bag chock-full of marshmallow peanuts and candy corn?

And we know that on every other day of the year, you might have different favorites, such as that organic 90% cacao with bits of chili and gold bar that you buy at the health food store. But when it comes to Halloween, and that bag of candy spills out in front of you, what do you go for first? What is your forbidden temptation!

#9: York Peppermint Patties

Chocolate and Nougat

We're not exactly sure where the word "nougat" came from (we're guessing it's French) and we're not entirely sure what it is, but we know that we love it! Bite through the chocolate exterior to instantly reach the soft, fluffy, sweet interior. It's like eating a chocolate-covered cloud.

# 8: Butterfinger

Chocolate and... ?

It's hard to say exactly what the ingredients and flavor of a Butterfinger are, but that doesn't stop them from being delicious! Buttery, caramel-y, peanut-y, with an interesting crunch and crackle.

#7: Twix

Crunchy Cookie, Caramel, and Chocolate

Here's one of my personal favorites, a candy bar that really stands out from the crowd. The cookie center gives it a satisfying crunch that's hard to beat, and the buttery caramel balances it out with just the right flavor. Plus, you get two sticks - one for now, one for later (obviously not for sharing!)

Nestle Crunch

#6: Nestle Crunch

Crisped Rice Covered in Milk Chocolate

This tasty candy bar starts off with delicious Nestle chocolate, but as soon as you bite in, you reach the satisfying crunch of crisped rice. The combination is totally satisfying!

Milky Way

#5: Milky Way

Chocolate with Caramel and Nougat

Similar to a Snickers bar, but preferred by those who don't like whole nuts in their candy. The combination of chocolate, nougat, and caramel in this case creates a dense, rich treat that's almost a meal in itself.

Almond Joy

#4: Almond Joy

Chocolate with Almond and Coconut

They're just something about the exotic combination of almonds and coconut that drives people crazy. It may not be the #1 combination on the list, but it's good enough to get a spot in the top 10! It's a bit of a more discerning taste, that's for sure.

KitKat

#3: KitKat

Chocolate and Crispy Wafers

This satisfying little candy bar is conveniently divided into four pieces, in case you want to share... yeah, right! The distinct chocolate flavor, paired with just the right amount of crunchy wafer, makes it hard to part with even the smallest piece of this chocolate-y treat.

Snickers

#2: Snickers

Chocolate with Peanuts, Caramel, and Nougat

Again with the nougat! Snickers goes all out, though, and if you like to have a lot of stuff in your candy bars, this is the one for you. It's hard to tell whether you're coming or going when you're crunching on tasty peanuts, sliding through soft caramel, and tasting delicious nougat all wrapped in a chocolate shell.

And The Winner Is...

Reese's Peanut Butter Cup

#1: Reese's Peanut Butter Cups

Chocolate with Peanut Butter

There's just too much going on with this candy bar for it not to be in first place. First, you get two candy bars in every pack, so after you finish the first you always know that there's another waiting for you. Second, the combination of chocolate and peanut butter will go down in history as perhaps one of the greatest known to human kind.
